Put This on Your Radar – March 26, 2018

A weekly, highly personal and subjective list of performances and artists we want you to know about:

Martha says:

An artist-driven collective that’s been a landmark of experimental art since 1970, Mabou Mines has a new theater of its own; the second floor of what was PS122. It will present this year’s SUITE/Space artists in their newly remodeled space. The multi-disciplinary artists who will be presented over six days include Tariq Al-Sabir, Tamar-kali, Sanaz Ghajar and Davalois Fearon. Opening night will be led off by Fearon, a long-time member of Stephen Petronio Company. She uses dance, music, text and projection in “Time to Talk,” an exploration of her experiences of racism in an oppressive American social system. This is no passive entertainment; Fearon’s goal is to challenge the audience members to consider their part in a continuing system of inequality. Her performance art as social action opens on March 27 at 7 pm.
