A weekly, highly personal and subjective list of performances and artists we want you to know about:
Martha says:
AUNTS returns this weekend to Mount Tremper Arts in the Catskills with “camp2.” This always-evolving artist family shifts with every event and performance, in the spirit of experimentation and invention. In a week of communal living at Mount Tremper Arts, the choreographers and dance artists gathered for this week will invent work just for you in an immersive event on Saturday evening. Some of the week’s amazing artists-in-residence: Megan Byrne, Jillian Sweeney, Eva Yaa Aswantewaa (newly-named curatorial director at Gibney Dance) and so many others. An added plus is an “Art B Q” and Mathew Pokoik’s Pig Roast (vegetarian options available, courtesy of chef Ethan Knechel and the Mount Tremper organic garden.) Full disclosure: Mount Tremper is one of my own artistic havens (I’m long time board member.) and I think every event there is special – but this one really should not be missed. Saturday July 21, BBQ at 7 pm, performance begins at 8 pm.
